Baptism

After His resurrection, and with all authority, Jesus said: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)  We seized that opportunity at MVF on Sunday as we baptized 8 people in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!  As God would have it, we were also celebrating the Day of the Child (El Día del Niño).  7 of those baptized were children and we saw a record number of 38 children in the service!  It was a celebration of Christ’s resurrection power for those baptized and for the whole church.  As Peter said of baptism, it is: “not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21).

My prayer is for us as a church to fulfill the rest of Jesus’ teaching given that day and to receive His promised accompaniment along the way.   Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  The discipleship process has begun!  We have 8 more people professing their love for God and connecting with Christ’s body, the church.  Now, may we teach and learn together so that those baptized may share Jesus’ love and bring others to Him to be saved and discipled!
